Home ownership is
part of the American Dream. One of the challenges in a rich and vibrant
community such as Montgomery County is to provide the opportunity for
affordable home ownership to low and moderate income families and individuals.
To meet this challenge a coalition of partners came together in 1997 to
form the Montgomery County Partners for Home Ownership. Their main goal
is to increase home ownership by educating the public about the buying
process and the special programs available to first-time buyers.
In 1997, through a proclamation from the Department of Housing and Urban
Development and the Montgomery County Commissioners, the Montgomery County Partners for Home Ownership
became an active affiliate of the National Home Ownership Strategy
and the National Partners in Home Ownership, as part of a national
effort to lift America's home ownership rate to an all-time high.
Since its formation, MCPHO has been dedicated to educating the public on the
many services and financial assistance programs available to homebuyers.
The Partnership has developed strong local partners and now has approximately
30 participants representing local banks, mortgage companies,
real estate agencies, insurance agencies, home inspectors, non-profit organizations, County and Local government
officials, PA Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) and the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development.
The Montgomery County Partners for Home Ownership is a voluntary coalition of public agencies, non-profit organizations
and local housing-related businesses and/or service providers, united with a common goal to provide public education in an effort
to increase home ownership in the Montgomery County, PA community.
